All in Nature believes that each child and situation is different, therefore the age requirements are guidelines which help us to best meet the needs of the individual child. Maturity level, family and group dynamics, and developmentally appropriate activities are all factors which are considered when choosing a program. Please contact us to discuss the most suitable program for your child.
After school pick-up from the following schools: Grace McWayne, J.B. Nelson, Louise White and Hoover Wood Elementary
All in Nature strives to create meaningful experiences in the natural world that help foster a child's love and stewardship for the earth. Through guided exploration in nature, hands-on learning, outdoor free play, and observation and reflection, children develop a feeling of "connection" between others and the world around them. The after school enrichment program provides the opportunity for children, ages 6-11 to connect with nature and explore interests and hidden talents. All in Nature provides two separate education programs which provide children with experiences that expand their mind and spirit.
"Earth education" adventures begin when AIN leaders pick children up at a designated school at dismissal time in one of the AIN vans and take them to parks, wetlands, ponds, prairies, and other natural settings in the western suburbs. Locations vary from day to day depending on the weather, group size, and children's interests, but include activities such as: hiking, swimming, outdoor play, sledding, bow making, animal tracking, treasure hunting, geocaching, maple tree tapping, fishing, tree planting, and outdoor games. On Earth Education days children spend the majority of time outside exploring the natural landscape. We value healthy exposure to nature's elements and encourage children to wear appropriate clothing; however, there may be days when nature provides more harsh conditions that could compromise our children's safety. During inclement weather, AIN teams may travel to the library, community center, or local gym to participate in group games.
In addition to Earth Education days, during the winter months All in Nature provides "Discovery" days where children will travel by AIN vans to partner organizations to participate in an activity. Activities, which rotate every three weeks, include, but are not limited to: yoga, cooking, indoor rock climbing, dance, self-defense classes, volunteering at local animal shelter, team sports (basketball, soccer, kickball), painting/drawing, music, and improv theater. Once enrolled, each participant will be given an interest survey to assist in determining the specific activities chosen for the group. Alll in Nature believes that children can become empowered when provided with a diversity of learning experiences which awaken a child's unique talents and gifts.
This year we will pick up from the following elementary schools: Grace McWayne, J.B. Nelson, Louise White, and Hoover-Wood. Parents also have the option to deliver their children to a AIN location if we cannot pick up from a specific school. The day ends at 6:00 when parents pick up their children at a AIN pick up spot, designated at the beginning of each session or dropped off directly at home. *Additional cost if requesting direct drop off to home.
