Lunch

Parents will pack a healthy lunch and drink (water highly recommended) that follows the "leave no trace" guidelines. Its simplest and most fundamental rule is: pack it in, pack it out, suggesting that all trash and leftovers will be sent home with the child. As the term suggests, the goal is for each child to have as little impact as possible on the location he or she is visiting. Our hope is to minimize disposable items and packaging. Groups will eat at different locations throughout the week.

age guidelines

All in Nature believes that each child and situation is different, therefore the age requirements are guidelines which help us to best meet the needs of the individual child. Maturity level, family and group dynamics, and developmentally appropriate activities are all factors which are considered when choosing a program. Please contact us to discuss the most suitable program for your child.

inclement weather

Children spend the majority of time outside exploring the natural landscape. We value healthy exposure to nature's elements and encourage children to wear appropriate clothing; however, there may be days when nature provides more harsh conditions that could compromise our children's safety. During inclement weather, AIN teams may travel to the library, community center, or local gym to participate in group games.

Why all in Nature?

All in Nature strives to provide educational programming that is safe, fun, and inspiring. We focus on activities which impact a child's cognitive, social and emotional development.  We value the "whole" child and design our programming to help boost a child's self-confidence, communication skills, physical activity, and exposure to nature. Each day is filled with active exploration, focused learning and observation, and opportunities to learn new skills. Each week is different and may consist of activities such as geocaching, trout fishing, campfire cooking, music exploration, cooperative games, and nature painting.

Our All in Nature leaders facilitate and create experiences that will stay with your child for a lifetime. We understand the importance of establishing caring relationships, and design our programs under a "team" model approach where children are supported by other peers and caring adults. Once enrolled in the summer camp program, children are placed on an twelve person explore "team" where they have the opportunity to connect with the earth, other children, and All in Nature leaders. Each "team" will participate in various activities, challenges, and noncompetitive cooperative games which help develop trust, communication skills, and a sense of community amongst the participates. It is our vision that in time children will feel empowered to try new things, be comfortable taking risks, and understand that both successes and mistakes are healthy, natural processes.

Adventure SUMMER CAMP

All in Nature provides week long exploratory activities connecting children, ages 6-13 with nature, their community, and one another. Each day is filled with outside adventures around the Chicagoland area. This year’s activities may include hiking, fishing, creek exploring, swimming, cooperative games, canoeing, farm visits, and more! One day of the week, explorers will travel to distant locations to participate in more unique activities (ex. Starved Rock). Schedule is subject to change as most activities are weather dependent. Children will begin their day at either Red Oak Nature Center (Batavia) or Herrick Lake (Naperville) and then travel by way of a 15 passenger van to various locations depending on the day. We support caring relationships, and meaningful interactions that nurture an awakening of a child's curiosity, imagination, talents, and love for the earth. We strive at all times to help children discover the joy, wonder, beauty and pure excitement that is possible in nature.
